Assistant SENDCo\n\n📍 Watford\n🕒 Full-time | (Term time + inset days)\n📅 Permanent\n💰 Salary: Dependent on experience\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are looking for a dedicated and organised Assistant SENDCo to support the SENDCo in delivering high-quality provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).\n\nYou will play a key role in ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed, working closely with staff, families, and external professionals.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Support the SENDCo in managing and delivering SEND provision across the school\n\n * Help coordinate support for students with SEND, including EHCP processes and annual reviews\n\n * Line manage and support Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)\n\n * Assist with exam access arrangements, including assessments and applications\n\n * Maintain accurate SEND records, provision maps, and student plans\n\n * Work with teachers to ensure inclusive teaching and effective interventions\n\n * Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies\n\n * Support student progress, attendance, and wellbeing\n\n * Deliver small group interventions and Functional Skills (Maths & English where required)\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * Experience working with children or young people with SEND\n\n * Good understanding of SEND processes and legislation (or willingness to learn)\n\n * Strong organisational and administrative skills\n\n * Ability to work collaboratively with staff and external professionals\n\n * Confident communication skills (written and verbal)\n\n * GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths\n\nDesirable:\n\n * Experience with exam access arrangements\n\n * HLTA status or relevant SEND qualification\n\n * Experience managing or supporting staff\n\nWhy Apply?\n\n * Opportunity to make a real difference in students’ lives\n\n * Supportive and collaborative team environment\n\n * Ongoing training and development opportunities\n\n * Varied and rewarding role\n\nSafeguarding\n\nThis role is subject to reference and enhanced DBS clearance.
